The dualistic role of the building - both as a public center of the housing area and small scaled kindergarten - is solved by the geometry of the building. It grows form the ground, forming the small scale for the children, yet creating a urban public space in the northern part of the site. The thoughtfully designed, carved-from-the-ground wings of the building form a safe, optimally directed and functional yard for the kindergarten. The yard opens up to the park, and river views. As the residential area and its residents age, the kindergarten can be easily transformed to assisted living building for the elderly.
