MARTINLAAKSO DAYCARE CENTRE COMPETITION
Type: invited competition entry
Location: Vantaa, Finland
Year: Competiton 2016
Size: 1650 br-m2
Client: Vantaa Municipality
Our entry was conceived as a building that serves as a gathering place for the whole community while creating an interesting and well functioning environment for the kids and staff in daycare. Spatially we wanted to achive mini-societies and square inside for the kids and to expand this into semi-public and public spheres of interaction. A lot of attention was also paid to the interplay between flowing space inside and the relationship to the new Vaahtera-aukio (Maple Square) in front of the building that completes an urban renewal of the area. Most public facade facing the square was planned as a mural.
